Summer is upon us and even with the rising
temperatures; we are not allowing it to hamper our dancing or
enthusiasm. Due to changes in local school schedules, our club
needed to change dance locations for most of the summer. The
Swinging Stars started dancing on Monday June 7th at Diskin
Elementary School, same time/same caller.
There were a full two squares on our birthday
celebration night for June birthdays and we look forward to adding
more weekly. It will be summer casual wear until September and
please bring your own water bottles to stay hydrated.
We also had a good turn-out and lots of fun at the
Association Dance on June 5th and look forward to the next one on
July 13th when we will host visitors from the United Kingdom.
With the money raised during these dances, we hope
to recruit a lot of new dancers to all the clubs for October. It is
heart-warming to see the new member’s progress and join us for
dances and outside activities.
Our club had our annual membership meeting on May
22nd in the home of Roy and Coral White. We discussed a lot of
business, made our plans for the balance of the year, and enjoyed
good food and fellowship with the many members in attendance.
Please note: On September 1st, we will be changing
our regular club dance night from Mondays to Wednesdays.
Our new student class will begin on Monday Sep 20th,
and will once again be taught by Ned Newberg.
We hope you are having a good summer and look
forward to seeing you on the dance floor at your club or ours…………

PLEASE NOTE: On June 7,
2010: we will start dancing at Distin Elementary School, 4220
Ravenwood Drive, which is just off West Flamingo & Spring Valley
Parkway (West of Rainbow). There is no change to our dance
times. We will remain there through July and will return to
Roger Bryan starting on Wednesday, September 1st.
